“Does this outfit make me look FAT?”
Ugh, How many times have we uttered those words? Today is the 1st day of the rest of your life. No longer will you ask that question. I want to help you find your inner beauty and make you look 10 lbs thinner in 10 minutes.
APPLES
Let’s begin with my friends the Apples. I too am an Apple. I know what it feels like to not be able to find a dress big enough for our broad shoulders or roomy enough to hold in “The Girls” and small enough for our narrow hips & flat bottoms. Here are a few tips for finding the perfect dress. You want to look for: V-neck or Wrap dress. This will open and elongate your neck. The flowing bottom will help to balance your broad shoulders. This will create an hourglass Illusion. Avoid straight or pencil skirts. You should look for A-line, circle or bubble skirted bottoms. They have more movement, which is a good thing. We want to avoid the whole inverted triangle look.( I love pencil skirts too but they don’t look good on my body type. I look like a linebacker.) Keep your hem at the knee. Apples are known for having great legs so show them off!
Pears
Apples have what you want… a large chest! And you have what Apples want, a booty! Pears want to do the opposite of Apples. You want to create volume on the top to help balance your hips. Here are a few tips to help you find the perfect dress.
You already have a defined waist so why not show it off by belting at the waist! A full bottom hides the booty and A Scoop neck or V-Neck draws the eye up to your face. Turtlenecks look great on you as well. Try to keep the length just above, below or at your knee. Avoid anything that clings to your bottom.
If you have heavy legs avoid ankle straps, go for a low vamp shoe (where the opening of the shoe cuts closer to the toe than the ankle). It will essentially elongate your leg making it look longer & thinner!
Hourglass
Hourglasses want to wear more tailored fitted dresses. You need structure! You want to show off your proportionate figure. Look for belted dresses and wrap dresses. Halters are also a good choice for your body type. Avoid full circle skirted dresses, such as the “Bo-Ho” look which will swallow you up.
Rectangles
Rectangles can wear just about anything. However, you want to create femininity. Your figure is straight up and down, so you should create an illusion of curves. Raspberry & ruffles are big this year, matched with a great pair of earrings, you are on your way. Avoid boxy jackets, coats & tops. Remember you want to create a defined waistline.
Ladies, your body type is your body type, whether you are a Size 2 or a Size 22. Having children, age, losing or gaining weight, will NOTchange your body type. You are what you are, so Celebrate Your Shape by wearing clothes for your body type.
